My baby loves drinking water. Her sippy cup is always on the ground and she drinks whenever she wants. She drinks about 30 oz per day.Is that too much? I am worried that she gets water intoxication or any other problem. I saw in a webpage that the amount of the water that a baby can take (after each meal) is as the baby's months + 2 or 3 (3 times a day). Acoording to this my baby can take (11+3)X3=42 oz ! Is that correct?

I breastfee her. Her weight is 25 lbs. She eats well. She is big!

  1. I was told by my pediatrician that a baby under 1 isn't suppose to drink more than 8 ozs of water a day for fear of water intoxication!  Check with your pediatrician!!!!!!!!

  2. None.  It disrupts the electrolyte balance and is not recommended at all under 1 year

  3. Ask your doc this question. My doc said NONE.

  4. I wouldn't worry too much, it's summer she probably needs more. You probably already do, but you could make sure she doesn't have added salt or high salt foods.

  5. if ur worried take baby to the docs they should b able to tell u how much water is safe for a baby
