  1. I used to have mine pretty full of water so that they could swim around also. I had a floating piece of drift wood at one point which they would use to bask with.  I ended up upgrading to a piece of wood with suction cups which they loved to bask on. So really it depends on now big the tank is and how much water u want to put in. Rule of thumb is minimum the length of their shell. Good luck. :)

  2. It depends on how tall it's basking perch is.  It's a bit difficult to drown a turtle, so don't worry about getting it too deep.  But you need to have a perch available which permits the animal to exit the water entirely, and bask under an UVB bulb.

As for how shallow?  It should be a minimum of "as deep as the animal's shell, when it's standing on it's legs," to permit the turtle to completely submerge if desired, when it enters the water.

I hope this has been helpful.

  3. They should have water deep enough to swim in but shallow enough in one area (perhaps a ramp) that they can stand and still stick their noses out  to breathe.

  4. it should be as deep as te tallest turtle standing vertical. i would go a little over.

  5. As much as you can. Come on- this is an aquatic turtle, and babies spend their lives in 2-3' deep areas. They don't drown! The recommendation is at least 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle shell length.

  6. it should be about 5 times as deep as them.i hoep i helped.
