How much water should one person drink per day?

I was just wondering how much should one person drink per day? I want to make sure that I get enugh water in my body so my body doesn't get dehydrated.

  4. I,ve started drinking about 4 pints of water a day (minimum) for no other reason than I heard its good for you.

  5. A person should drink half their body weight in onces. For an example, if you weigh 100lbs, drink 50 onces of water per day!! The eight glasses a day or 64oz a day is an old wives tale. It makes sense that different sized people require different amounts of nutrients! I hope I helped you out!

  6. For propper hydration we need one ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise. If it is a warm/dry day or you live in warm/dry climent you will need even more.

  8. About three to eight glasses it depends on what you drink. Like if you drink sugar free kool-aid then that is like 50% water so it really depends on what you drink and how much you drink of it.

  9. I agree with Blacklight  Blue.  Basically drink when you are thirsty , if your urine is light colored you are getting enough fluids, if dark , not enough.

Just yesterday I was reading a magazine called WebMD in a doctor's office.  There was an article saying it's been found that there is nothing special about "8" glasses of water a day (what people are usually told to drink.)  Someone found that with some people less is ok and with others more is ok.  It depends on your body and activities.  So, I guess if you are drinking about 8 glasses/day, you are in the ballpark.  If you feel full with less, ok.  If you are working hard and sweating and thirsty, have some extra.

  16. Depends on the person and what they are doing.  For instance someone sitting home on their couch watching TV all day will no require as much as someone out running a marathon.
