If you do have a leak it is on the house side of your water meter otherwise they would not know how much you used.

How long did you leave it on? Sounds like a leak somewhere. I took a bucket and a watch. My water puts out 5 gallons in 2 1/2 minutes.10 gallons in 5 minutes. Thus, when we water with a sprinkler it only costs a minimal of 20 dollars a month since 1000 gallons is less than 5 dollars. You need to find the ratio of water per minute and how long you left it on and how much per 1000 gallons that it costs you. 80,000 gallons of water is a huge amount.
