Question:

How much weight can a bicycle take?

My back tire was actually bent twice. So, um I guess I dunno?

The guy said my weight wouldnt be a problem. But I dont know how much. It works ok now so far.

  1. I assume you just mean you've flatted the back tire, and not that you've folded up the rim.  

    As a mountain biker, I know there's a temptation to lower the air pressure to go for traction on the corners.  But if you're doing that, or if you just run lower pressure for comfort, flats from pinching against the rim are to be expected.  

    So try putting 50 psi in the tires.    New, good quality tires can take more than that, but I wouldn't push it.   I knew a guy who was trying to prove that a mountain bike was almost as efficient as a road bike, so he rode it on a century (100 mile) ride and to minimize friction on the knobby tires, he put new ones on (he worked at a bike shop), and pumped them up to 90 psi.    

    People on the ride were coming around on the rest stops just to feel his tires!  :-)
