I am 29 weeks 6 days and have gained 10lbs so far. I read that the baby puts on a 1/2 pound a week until delivery...when does that start? Also, what was your weight gain and how much did you weigh right after birth...lets say about a day or two after. thanks!

  1. Me personally i gained 10 kg with my pregnancy and after i gave birth didn't gain nothing I staid the same for about 2 - 3 months later and then I start losing it and came back to my normal weight. Gongrats on your pregnancy and lucky you cause you  haven't gained much weight.

  2. i have gained about 20 pounds so far all in the third trimester i am being induce in two weeks. So i can't answer the rest of your question. But good luck i will let you know how much weight i lose after delivery tho...

  3. Well congrats on ur pregnancy!  Now when i was pregnant with my first with my son i didnt find out until i was 6months! i was losing weight  i lost like 10 pounds until i reached 8 months. after that i gained maybe 20 -25 on the last 2 months! with my 2nd pregnancy i found out when i was 2 months n quickly started gaining weight I was pregnant with my daughter i gained maybe no more than 40 pounds....If u keep ur figure when ur pregnant n  just grow a stomach that means ur gonna have a baby boy . If u gain weight all over that mean u r gonna have a girl and this is very true .  and i lost the weight with in 2 weeks after but i had csections with both.I didnt breastfeed cuz i wanted to drink and smoke but I was told from a few women that breatsfeeding helps ur uterus go back in shape. good luck!

  4. I hate to use the 'everyone is different logic' but it's true. For me personally I hardly gained any weight in the begining of both pregnancies and then doubled that between 7 mos and delivery. I can say that if you have been eating right and gaining the right weight in the right places you can lose a good deal of weight at birth. The averages I have seen are around 7lbs for the baby, placenta 2 lbs, amniotic fluid 2 lbs, Uterus 2 lbs, Maternal breast tissue 2 lbs

Maternal blood 4 lbs, Fluids in maternal tissue 4 lbs

Maternal fat and nutrient stores 7 lbs. Now some of that won't go away right after birth but you can assume you will leave the hospital at least 10-11 lbs lighter. But, again, it's different for everyone. Good luck.

  5. I wonder the same thing as you!  I am 37 weeks though and have only gained 8 lbs and wanted to know how much more I was going to gain.  Everyone always freaks when i tell them I have only gained that because they say I am starving the baby, but my doctor said that it was fine and he was not concerned at all about my weight gain or lack there or it!  I go to the doctor tomorrow and when I weighed last night I had gained a lb.

  6. I gained about 22 lbs with my son, and all of it was in the 3rd trimester.   The first four months I was losing weight, during the 2nd trimester, I finally got back up to my prepregnancy weight, and right at the end I started packing it on.  I don't remember how much I weighed right after giving birth (it was two years ago) but I do remember that by the time of my 6 week check up, I weighed 11 pounds less than my prepregnancy weight.

With my current pregnancy, I've just started my 3rd trimester, and I'm hoping that I don't pack it on the way I did the last time, because I didn't lose weight at the beginning this time.  I've gained 8 lbs so far at 29 weeks.
