I heard Anderson Silva normally weighs 215 lbs after he weighs in and gains back his water weight before his fights. Joe Rogan Said Tito Ortiz fights at over 220. I have strong arms and I'm a good fighter but I'm really skinny. I'm considering a career in MMA but get this: I'm 6 feet tall and I only weigh between 150 and 155 lbs right now. I used to weigh close to 160 when I was going to the gym a lot, but I've never gotten serious about using creatine and protein to put on a lot of muscle. Obviously I'll put on a lot of muscle before I fight competitively, but the question is, how much muscle should I put on? If I got really serious I bet I could put on at least 50 lbs, so does that mean when I cut water weight I should fight at welterweight or middleweight? Being a lightweight fighter at 6 feet would be kinda silly.

  1. what?!?! you should definitely fight at 155 lbs. dont even think of moving up in weight....trust me, you have the best chance of succes if you stay at 155....if anything maybe you could fight at 170. but i think 155 is your best bet...look at carlos condit....he's 6'2" and 155 and hes one of the best lightweights to hold the title in recent years...

  2. maybe go for welter, i think to fight your body has to be near its natural weight. it will function alot better than if you pile on muscle weight, im normally a light heavey, and went up to super heavey, for pride more than anything and i was quite slow, and struggled in training. im back at light heavey now, still as strong and much fitter and faster than when i was super heavey.
