I'm 11w6d right now, but i noticed when i was still at 9 week, that my clothes were fitting pretty tight. when i reached 10 week, my jeans that normally fit me right were very uncomfortable and leaving red marks on my belly from being too tight. As of now, I definitely have a bump that many people are noticing. People at work, family, friends, everyone that knows I'm pregnant. Of course, to someone who has no idea I'm pregnant it probably just looks like I'm fat, but it's definitely starting to show. Well, I weighed 141 lbs before I got pregnant and i now weight 145. I've gained 4 pounds.

How much weight should I have gained so far? I know 25-30 pounds TOTAL, but I'll be three months tomorrow, so am i gaining too fast? I know some people loose weight, but I'm terrified of gaining too much weight.

Also, this is my first child, (i heard it takes longer to someone who's never had a baby before to start showing) so should I already have such a bump, or could i possibly be farther along than I thought. i had an ultrasound at what they determined to be 6 week, but could that be wrong? I can still wear my same clothes so far, but it's starting to feel very uncomfortable, and most of my shirts are hugging my belly now. I go in for my 12 week appointment next week, but I just wanted some ideas from experienced people. thanks!

  1. You're right on track.  Don't worry about your weight gain.  This is the one time in your life where you can gain weight and not feel guilty for it.  I gained 35 pounds and lost it within 3 months.

  2. I have a small baby bump now...its not effecting how my pants fit tho...i u guess my bump is rather high because all my jeans fit fine.  Its my shirts that are getting tighter and I just kind of look like I have a pudgy beer-like belly! I have only gained about 2lbs but I have been quite sick as well. I will be 14 weeks on Monday with my second baby

  3. Everybody is different, maybe you are just having a big baby, but it's a good thing you are seeing your doctor next week.

  4. Don't worry - I am 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby too and I have gained 7 lbs (so I'm envious of your 4) and also have a baby bump.  I weighed 128 when I got pregnant and my doctor is not worried at all and told me that I was doing fine. Just eat right and exercise.  Don't worry about the weight gain just concentrate on being healthy and happy!

  5. In general, you should gain about 2 to 4 pounds during your first three months of pregnancy and 1 pound a week for the remainder of your pregnancy.

  6. I am 12 weeks pregnant. I still fit into my prepregnancy clothes easily. I have noticed I have a totally different body shape, my b***s are more full and I am starting to get a bump. I actually have lost 3 pounds though so far due to hyperemesis. This is my first child as well and I also am 18 years old so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

  7. I started to show really early as well. I started showing at around 11 weeks I'd say. I felt like I ate a ridiculously large meal constantly. Don't worry about your weight, but ask your doctor if you have any concerns. He or she would know much better than any of us on here. I weighed 100lbs pre-pregnancy (I'm only 4'10"), and I now weigh 131lbs. The doctor said that my weight gain is completely normal and that some people even gain up to 50lbs and it's normal for them. Just don't freak out about your weight gain. =)

  8. well every person's body is different and we all go through things differently.  some "lucky people can go to seven months and not look a day pregnant..  me i show the first week.

here's a trick to stay in your jeans longer.  leave them unzipped but clasp them with a hair band from the button to  the hole.  that helped me for a while and wear loose shirts to cover them.

the ultrasounds are fairly accurate, though not always perfect.  just relax and enjoy the coming baby, you have plenty of time

and about the weight don't let a few pounds be an issue.  you have to gain some to support the growing little one.

    take care.
