  1. The important number is a math problem.  You have to have a deficit between calories burned and calories consumed.  It takes 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound.  If you have a deficit of 500 calories per day, you will lose a pound a week.  I wear a device that uploads to my computer and shows me how many calories I have burned per minute. Therefore, I log in what I eat and make sure I have a deficit.  There are sites that will help you figure out how many calories different activities burn.  Your resting/sleeping/watching TV will burn about 0.9 calories per minute.  So take that number and add your activity.  It's a lot easier to eat enough to be satisfy, but move enough to have a nice deficit.

  2. yes

  3. i dont think you can live on 500 calories a day, youll die

  4. You will gain weight. You may lose for the first week or two than your body will shut down. After a couple more weeks you will give up and 1 week after that you will weigh more than you do now. Ask me how I know.

  5. too many to fast, don't do it.  It's not healthy

  6. You should never go below 1200 calories a day.  I would check a fitness website.  By cutting 500 calories a day you will lose 1 lb per week in a healthy way.  If you cut 500 calories plus excercise you can lose 2 pounds a week.  1-2 pounds is healthy weight loss.  1lb = 3500 calories. Your body requires more than 500 calories a day just to be able to breath, walk..and digest food.  Your body will go into starvation mode and it will store, in addition your metabolism will drop so low that when you do eat healthy again you will gain a ton of weight.

  7. You probably need around 1500 per day to maintain your current body weight.  If you exercise regularly, bump that up to 2000.  Around 3500 calories is a pound.  So using this as a reference, you can expect to lose 2 pounds a week.  However, your body will reach a point to where it will stop losing weight.  With so few calories, you need to spread it out throughout the day, and go high in protein, or else your body will use consume your muscles for energy, instead of fat.  I'd say go to 1000 calories, protein in the morning, carbs for lunch, and protein for dinner.

  8. Starvation mode and no weight loss.

  9. not alot,

  10. alot

  11. yes.

(the non-yesno answer: you're just gonna get fatter. your muscles are gonna die down. have fun with that.)

  12. Well, I started eating about 1200 a day and lost about 8 or 9 pounds in a month. But after that I started to feel like I was holding weight because it started to go back up a little like 2 or 3 pounds. So I brought my calories up to 1500 a day and that has made me go back down again. I think either changing your caloric intake a little every day or keeping it around 1500 will help you lose and maintain a lower weight. I also ride my bike a few times a week for about an hour.

oh, I thought I might add that I recently quit taking my birth control pill and that might have something to do with my extra weight loss. they add like 5 or 6 lbs at least and increase your appetite.

  13. Well if you starve your self for 3days you can loose 10 lbs..

  14. That is not a yes or no question. If your highly active only eating 500 calories a day could cause you serious issues, sometimes you may get away with it but every day over time you could end up in the hospital or dead.

If your not active then it will appear you are losing weight, when really your losing muscle mass instead of fat which weighs 3 times more than fat.

So in the long run it's better to not eat only 500 calories a day, the normal diet is 2,000 to 2,000 calories. Also if you eat the same things and do the same things your body will get used to it quickly and makes it hard to lose weight doing the same thing all the time.

It would be safer to do 1,000 calories, give or take a few 100 every few days to keep the body confused and mix in exercise.

  15. depends on how much you exersize.

in order to loose weight you have to burn off more calories then you consume

  16. Unless this is enough calories to keep your tummy from saying "I'm hungry" Your body will think your starving and begin to store fat.

It takes more than just diet, truly its the cardio.

Eat enough, do your cardio, you'll loose weight and build muscle.

As we say "Do it right!".

You'll only cause more problems down the road if you don't!

  17. You will gain weight. Your metabolism shuts down after a day eating 500 calories. Then you gain weight if you eat anything any day after that. If you eat 1000 calories a day.. you loose weight and keep your metabloism going. So no.. try exercising.. What a thought!!??

  18. 3,500 excess calories your body does not use=1 pound

so you will lose a pound a week

so in about 2 months you will lose about 8 pounds
