    If you are in a 500 calorie deficit, (so you eat 1500 a day), in one week you have a deficit of 3500 (the amount of calories in one pound).

    so you would lose one pound a week.

  4. It all has to do with calories in versus calories out. Our bodies our constantly burning calories with every swallow, blink, itch and breath. If you are reducing the amount of calories that you consume in a day from lets say 2500 to 2000 and not exercising, you might burn a couple pounds really slowly. Not quite as quickly as if you were to go on a 30 minute walk everyday or bicycle.
