How much wieght can i lose if i go on a vegetarian diet for a year???

I've gained a few pounds since I've been a vegetarian. The food just taste too good I suppose.

Haha... It depends if you end up eating a lot of cheese and cream etc. instead. Also if you drink a lot of beer than being a vegeterian won't do a great deal.

No matter what "diet" you choose, if you stop "dieting" after a year, you will gain back all of the weight you lost plus more.

I lost about 25lbs in 6 months and have kept it off even though I wasn't try to lose weight. I think I'm at my ideal weight now. I also eat more volume than I used to and didn't change my exercise routine (virtually none, i hate exercising lol)

Vegetarianism is not a weight loss diet.

You lose weight by consuming less calories than you use, it doesn't matter if you are vegan, omnivore or cannibal.

It's true what the others say that vegetarianism in itself won't make you lose weight: you can still be unhealthy and eat loads of saturated fat and beer, and you still need to consume fewer calories and expend more in order to lose weight.

However!  Lots of people do find that starting to go veg and thinking about animal products etc. and what they put into their bodies really gets them going in terms of a healthy lifestyle, so it's a good start. You certainly need to cut down on the saturated fats and processed foods contained in the overly meat-based standard American/Australian diet anyway.

It's true that living on grain-based proteins (pulses etc.), nuts, seeds, fruit and veg is the healthiest way to go - just keep your dairy intake low (avoid it all together if you can) and keep your processed food intake low. And watch the coconut milk.  Keep the exercise up (especially strength training) and you can lose as much weight as you need to.
