  1. there's so many varying factors. how big is the fuel tank, how many miles per gallon does the vehicle get, prices differ in states for gas. all i can say is A LOT! probably at least a few hundred.

  2. You have not considered that you will need mexican car insurance. Plan on about $300 for that. Going to need tags ( even temp. as a visitor ) thats another $200. You will also have fees for your visitor immigration card - another $25.

    Take a plane !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I have driven from Louisiana to Puebla many times (the middle 3rd of the drive from IL to Cancun) It takes 22 hours and costs about $600 round trip for gas, tolls, Mex. insurance and car permit. I would say round trip from IL to Cancun would be about 60 hours and cost $1200 to $1800 total.

One very important tip is to make sure you drive through Mexico City between 9pm and 6am. Day time traffic in Mexico City is horrible and you will have to change highways several times to cross the city.

  4. It depends on the car and amount you're hauling.

I recently drove from Michigan to Arizona then to Montana, then back to Arizona, and finally, back to Michigan. I drive a two door Pontiac Sunfire that has about a 12 gallon tank. We filled up twice a day at $40 a fill up. I'm guessing it cost us about $600+ for the drive.

Gas got cheaper as we got further out west - although it was extremely expensive in California.

You're probably going to have to pay AT LEAST $600 in gas but you have to factor in food plus any car repairs you have to make along the way, oil changes, and hotel/motel stays.

But are you doing a round trip? That would make it at least $1000.

  5. avg price for gas is 3.65 per gallon......how many MPG do you get in your car.....what is the total miles from point A to point B.....is your vehicle ready for travel (tire pressure, oil change, tune up, etc)....unless youre driving a yugo, you should be prepared to spend a lot....perhaps you could just invest in a  pair of roller blades and grab on to the back of 18 wheelers and ride for free until you reach your destination

  6. TAKE A PLANE!!!  So much less expense.  Be time you add up the cost of rental and gas...no doubt you will spend less time and money on a plane.

The best thing is to go through something like travelocity...and book in advance.  Flights usually go up when you book closer to the date.  An example is our flight for Cancun for May 15-19th was booked in February of this year for $275 per person roundtrip....however, if we would book right now around memorial weeked...it would be $$750-$980 per person....so don't book around Holidays, and try to book in advance.  (unless you want to go on a holiday)

    Hope this helps!

  7. mapquest is a good resource, find out how many miles it is.

and then figure out  how many miles per tank your car gets

then figure how much it costs to fill your tank..

then divide how many tank full~s (miles ) it will be..

it~s probably 3000 miles, and if you get 300 miles a tank,

you will have to refill 10 times...  so ... (~$600) maybe

when you get to the boarder you´ll need to buy mexican insurance (and don´t forget your passport)

  8. i wouldnt drive, that is a long drive and there are some parts of Mexico where there are and have road pirates. all they need is to see American.

but to answer your question....a lot plan on about $800 at least.

  9. Go on mapquest. They have a really neat tool you can use to figure it out.

    Have Fun!
