  1. Use of hybrid cars will not necessarily lower greenhouse gas emissions. You also need to incorporate the cost of harvesting the resources to make the car, and the cost of moving the resources to the factory, distributor and purchaser. Also, the machine will need fuel and routine maintenance. In some cases a hybrid car will come in at higher net cost to the environment than a conventional vehicle. A phased process of replacement where it is economical will be of benefit but it is not a simple calculation. During the transition process, I would expect emissions to increase as the industry was retooled.


  2. Well, they'd be lowered some, but no more than if everyone used ANY economy cars.

  3. None at all, but other pollutants like unburned hydrocarbons will be reduced.  Complete combustion of any fuel containing hydrogen produces greenhouse gases.  Please note from the reference spectrum that H20 absorbs/reflects the same frequencies of light as CO2.
