I have a 1 carat cluster diamond necklace which is set in plated white gold on gold with a gold chain. Its about a year old and cost about £200, do you have any ideas how much they would give me for it? Also will they check it properly so they dont just think its any old tat? or will i have to tell them what it is etc? If i took it in and said i paid £200 for it would they give me £200 ? and then id pay that back? any help would be great thanks x

  1. They'll pwn your ar$e by paying half of what it's worth so they can make a decent profit.

  2. it would be better to take it to an independant jewellers to get it valued

  3. about £30 if you are lucky!

  4. all pawn shops have a set rate usually a third of the value.

  5. Yes they will check it with a diamond tester.  Likely you will get nothing even close to the value you paid for it.  A pawn broker will likely offer you about 50% of what it is worth (or possiby less).

You may want to carry your receipt in with you when you go in to see the broker.

  6. i didnt know they still had pawn brokers? i thought they went out in the 1920,s or 30's.

  7. It depends on the colour & the clarity but i would hold onto if i were you Angel

    £3,795.00 £1,795.00
