Question:

How much will insurance be for a two week charity bike ride?

My friends and I are planning on cycling from Paris to Monte Carlo in 2010 for a local charity. Is it true that getting insurance for such an event can prove difficult. How much would it be likely to cost?

Is there any other things we should be considering which we are likely to have neglected?

  1. The best bet is to join a local cycle club.

Mine is affiliated to the CTC (cyclists touring club) and third party insurance is included as standard!

Any further questions might be best directed at the affiliating body, for a years membership it cost me £15 (about $30US) You may also find that some members have travelled under similar circumstances, - free info and tips!

Best advice I can offer mate!

  2. Well, it depends on the type of insurance you want... for you or for the bike?

I would think that your current insurance would cover YOU in the event of a bad situation, and most homeowners and renters insurances cover losses even if your bike isn't at your home when it happens.

However, you should ask a local insurance agent or your carrier just to be sure... nobody here could give you info on your exact needs since nobody here knows you!

  3. We can't answer that! No one can! We're not insurers! You need to call and get a quote.

It will depend on the bike make and age and cost, your health condition, age etc
