I have a two bedroom apartment and since I was staying there alone I decided to rent the extra room to somebody for one month (June). My apartment has Split Air Conditioner (compressor sits outside the apartment and blower sits inside the home). Since my new roommate likes the apartment to be really cool the AC runs 24/7. I don’t mind that but I am concern about my electricity bill. I used to run it for around 2 hours a day.

Since by the time I will get my electric bill for June this guy will be gone. So I will have to charge him half of electric bill upfront. Can anybody suggest some fair $ amount how much I can expect as electric bill for June?

I am asking the question here since many of you guys must have that kind of AC (and you might also running it 24/7) and you must be paying bills too! By the way my cooking is also eclectic but we don’t cook much at home. I do not have washing machine, drier etc at home. Thanks for your time and kind help!

  1. you need to provide more information.  The cost of electricity is dependent upon where you live.  And the cost of cooling your house is dependent on the size of your house as well as how energy efficient your home is.

  2. $150.00  1/2 of a $300 bill.

You can look at your last bill for the meter reading ,there is literaly a # read off the meter and the date it was taken.

Now( or when appropriate) look at the meter for the new reading and compare the killowatts used to previous bills.

  3. 150.00 easily
