How much will it cost me to go to the summer olympics in 2012?

I became a huge fan of the olympics this summer and would love to go in 2012. Is it even possible? Do you have to be invited? Do you have to buy tickets for each race/competition? I live in the States so I need a plane ticket and lodging, etc...

airticket - 700 usd (or more due to olympics, possibly up to 2000 usd)

accomodation in london - 100 usd/night (or less)

food - 50 usd/day (or less)

olympic ticket - ??

It is in London, and there are tickets available for all the individual events, but they are not on sale yet.
