How much will it cost me to replace my car windshield??

Question

i have a '07 Lexus 350 ES

and i was driving yesrerday on a freeway and got hit by a little stone.

so i called my parents (i'm only in highschool) and they told me to go to a nearby grocery store and get a super glue and glue the spot right away,

i did it and drove home.

and this morning, the crack spread like at least 8 inches side way and about 6 inches the other way.

So i called the Lexus service center to find out the price to replace it.

I thought it will only cost me, the most $800..

but they said the labor fee is $150 (understandable) and the windshield itself is around $3000, and the molding is around $500,

and the person came up with the estimate of $3940..

i was reall shocked so i just said okay and hung up.

is this what other body shops are going to cost me??

i was aware that lexus has baddd maintenance problems, but i didn't know that my window would just crack like that..

my family had a civic for more than 9 years and never got a crack window or anything!...

anyways, please help me.

call an automotive glass shop for an estimate.  i replaced the windshield on two of my cars, (honda and acura) and the cost was under $300 each.

i work at a trucking company and we have to replace all the time... u can get done under 300 for sure

Call around to windshield repair or replacement companies in the phone book to get an estimate for replacing the windshield...it will more than likely be less than what the dealership wants but you should still expect a cost of about $2000.00. Lexus are like other luxury cars expensive to fix.
