  1. at my vets office the cost is 95 dollars for a male and 110 dollars for a female.  for everything.  i love my vet, she is soooo awsome!

  2. First, before declawing, PLEASE read the information at this URL: http://www.declawing.com/

Shots will run you about $30-$75 depending on the vet and whether your kitten will be an indoor-only cat (that's cheaper and safer).

Spaying (females) costs about $70 and neutering (males) costs about $50.   Sorry-- I don't have my receipts-- it's been too long.

  3. Depending upon the vet that you choose, cost can range from about $100-300 without declawing. Declawing is not recommended. It is an ancient and barbaric practice that is rapidly disappearing. People will say that it is equivalent to humans having the tips of their finger removed, but for cats, it is much more traumatic and potentially very harmful. Humans can get along just fine with the tips of the fingers removed. In cats, their defenses are eliminated. Many cats will turn to biting. They lose their ability to climb and grasp on to things. They use their claws for stretching. Cats normally walk on their nails and removing them upsets their balance. Cats who have had their claws removed cannot scratch themselves effectively. In short, declawing makes a cat not a cat.

  4. Please don't declaw your kitty! I think it's inhumane and they have things like softpaws that you can put on your kitty so she can still protect herself. They have stuff on tv that you can also buy to safely trim your cats nails as frequently as you like.

  5. In our clinic, it would be about $450 for a young kitten.

  6. in response to an earlier answer. I would recommend NOT doing the surgery and shots together. I know that when my kitten came home from getting her first shots (rabies and feline-leuk) she was way out of sorts the rest of the night. If you add that on top of how they will feel right after surgery, you could have a very very angry cat on your hands.

Males are cheaper, because all they do is snip, where as with females they have to actually make an incision.

Kittens need a lot of shots, because they have to get all their boosters (which can run from just 1 shot to a series of 3 different shots) as well as when they're done with those they can start on the regular shots.

I read an article in a magazine once (I can't remember which one off the top of my head) where it said the approximate first year costs of a cat equals out to about $650. That includes food, litter, surgery, and shots.

As for the declawing: if you relate it to our hands, it would be like removing the part of your fingers where your nails are and just leaving stumps for fingers. If you're getting a kitten, it's much easier to train them from a young age. You just need to be firm and make sure they understand what a scratching post is.
