  1. Dash you are correct

But I would suggest Magic Jack over Vonage

    Much cheaper$$$$$

MagicJack rate to the Philippines are 18-22 cents per minute

  2. I don't think it would be that much.

I use Vonage and they are really cheap.

It's only 10 cents per min if you use www.telespoof.com

  3. Landlines use physical circuits to switch phone calls across the globe. They offer the highest voice quality since a full signal is carried from end to end, that quality is constant, and you are actually leasing the line in the circuit. As you know, this will get expensive.

There are options to leases digital circuits, which are significantly cheaper, but offer variable voice quality and at high loads can significantly lower voice quality

Leasing a digital circuit can be as cheap as a local call.....about $5 for 5 hours.....

You can generally purchase an international phonecard that will do this.

    You can use skype....

If you have family in the Philippines that you call frequently, and they have internet access, I suggest buying them a vonage box, registering it in the USA and mailing it to them.

Basically, when you dial that local number, you will get charged local rates to the Philippines....
