How much will it cost to repair my Philips Flat screen plasma 42" TV to get rid of 3 inch vertical stripes?

I have 2 vertical stripes, each 3 inches wide running from top to bottom on the screen. They are there over the PS3 games, DVDs, and ATT U-verse menus. Philips says it's probably the video board. What is a reasonable quote to fix this and should I just get a new TV instead?

that's a common problem with television's. The cost to repair  the problem generally runs about $400-$500. It sounds like your high voltage power supply is not functioning properly.

Lots of times when a TV is having problems like that it is more expensive to fix, and would cost less to just buy a new TV.

yes...that my answer to most of those type of things...because once it has problems you normaly cont. to have them after you get it fixed the first time..

holy cow, i have the same problem, and i dont know what to do.

the lines are GReen right? and the screen is normal except for those lines? it only affects the HDMI inputs right?
