How much will my insurance cover for my glasses?

Thanks in advance for answering. I'm thinking of going to LensCrafters to buy myself a new pair of glasses. The Vogue glasses I want cost $159.95. My insurance is Aetna. How much will my insurance cover, or will I have to pay that amount for the glasses?

[I know they're a bit expensive, but I haven't seen anyone with these glasses and they're cute!]

  1. that is something you are going to have to ask your insurance company.  each company in each state has different levels of coverage. even employer sponsored and individual plans.

pull out your insurance card and find the member/customer service number and give them a call...

  2. Regular health insurance doesn't cover glasses.  You would need to have a separate vision benefit.

Aetna does offer this to employers, so you might have some coverage.  It's usually a flat amount, like $60 for frames and $60 for lenses.

If you have this separate coverage.

  3. You'll have to ask them.  My insurance, pays about $100 towards frames, $30 towards lenses, and $10 for construction.   Usually leaving me holding the bag for another $100 or $200, depending on what I pick out.

  4. they won't cover it! not a penny!  I had aetna about a year ago and switched.

they'll cover your eye exam but no glasses..

if you want 60% off your glasses.. get a supplement plan thru AmeriPlan USA... you'd have to order them on-line though.. to get that discount price. the plan is 20 bucks! and you get discounts on other stuff as well.

  5. Read your vision plan coverage conditions.
