Question:

How much will paint affect the resale value of my warhammer models?

I need money and I don't need my warhammer models (mostly orcs and goblins from the fantasy game) anymore, so I'm looking to sell them on ebay. Unfortunately, they're all very, very poorly painted.

I soaked the models in Simple Green and took a toothbrush to them after letting them soak for about two days. The paint really does come off pretty easily, but I can't seem to get any of the models spotless. Most still have noticeable dark spots in the nooks and crannies from the primer, and some of the plastic ones seem to refuse to shed the primer at all.

As long as all/close to all of the colored paint is off, is it going to matter if my models still have the black or white primer on them when I try to sell them? Or does anyone have any recommendations for getting the paint out of those nooks and crannies?

  1. Scrub them as well as you can, re-primer them, and sell them as 'primered and ready for paint'. It will look better than 'spotted and half primered'. Just make sure you dont have any globs or deeply filled places on them before you apply the primer again. I'd use a toothpick in the areas where the primer might build up over the old paint.
