How much will playstation 4 cost?

Question

Considering Sony held back prices for the Playstation 3 (even though it's still expensive as it is/was) since making it costed over $1000 for EACH console, wouldn't the Playstation 4 cost over $1000, A.K.A., made specifically for the rich?

We don't know yet. You're thinking WAY ahead. It will probably be more expensive than the PS3.

Probably, the PS4 will NOT have PS3 backwards compatibility. This will only make it far more expensive to produce and too expensive to afford.

sony says it wont be due until 2016 and that means it wont be disks that games will be on so about 2000$ or more cuz of course it will be comletely interactve

Well even though they've made a new format for each system, that doesn't mean this one will be a new format. Remember they went CD,DVD,Blu-Ray. Although Blu-Ray was the first time they created a new format. The CD wasn't normal to game systems, but was around already with Sega CD. DVD was already around as well, just the first time used for games. We won't go in to the mistake that UMD has turned out to be because we are talking about Playstations, not PSP. So Blu-Ray was NEW and hadn't been around yet. That is part of the cost. Another part is the NEW processor(Cell processors weren't around before). These things didn't have a chance to go down in price before Sony started using them. So don't be surprised if the PS4 is still only around $600 or whatever the inflation drives that to in 5 years or so. One last thing, before you say it is specifically for the rich, try looking at the price of the other systems when they first came out in comparison of today's money. Game systems have ALWAYS been expensive.

Depends on what the "PS4" will be able to do. I doubt the would ever make a gaming system that much money unless it put you into the game. Eventually the PS3 will come down in price because the parts will not cost as much to make.

Besides, in order to really enjoy these new consoles, a HDTV is best and the really good ones are still close to $2000 and up, what's another grand for a game system to go along with it?  Besides, I don't think we'll see that $1000 price, that's ridiculous...
