On my credit report is a collections account (medical) that should not be there and Im currently disputing it and getting it deleted. I know it depends on several things but does anyone have any idea how much my score may improve when it is gone?

  1. Depends how old it is - and it will vary depending on which CRA you are pulling but if it is realtively recent expect about 20 pts.....

  2. generally I don't believe theres any significant jump right when its closed. It takes up to seven years for something like that to get off your report and for your score to build from it

  3. It can vary...

Collections (depending on what type it is) can be a major hit. Some credit cards and banks will decline you even with 1 collections on your report.

It can drop your score 20-50pts in many cases.
