How much will the Bank of England cut base rates today? 0.25% or more?

I think it would definitely be prudent to have a quarter point cut now rather than anything too drastic. The media are siezing on every bit of bad news at the moment concerning the housing market. A drastic rate cut could erode confidence even more.

The Fed took drastic action to address the housing crash there - the BofE will have to do something similar to have any effect.  

Inflation will take off if they do that - so it's anybody's guess !
