The ZAP-X is expected to cost approximately $60,000 and be available sometime in 2009.

The ZAP Alias is expected to cost around $30,000 and be available in early to mid 2009, a bit before the ZAP-X.

As soon as the oil industry is taken down and there is no fuel left to sell you. Then the electric cars will be expensive. Of course we won't have anything to charge them with because our power plants run mostly on oil, but there is an upside, by that time there won't be any need for cars because the planet will be flooded and we will all need boats.

I am under the impression that the Zap X is already available but only as a *reservation* but th price is $25K and they are in production with Lotus.
