I have golden 1 credit union. How much would i get charged to take money out of a mexican atm in mexico?

Pay attention to Sparks.

Let your bank know you are comming, so you can use it or they could think it is a fraud. The charge is not as big as to risk yourself carrying to much cash.

Don't just ask your credit union ... tell them you are going to Mexico to avoid being cut off.

My credit union is free but a 1% fee is charged between banks

You should ask your bank really.  I take out money in europe and my bank charges an unfavorable interest rate PLUS 2% charge for foreign exchange.  in france there is no atm charge, most of the time, like it used to be, way back when, in the usa.
