How much wine can I legally bring back into the U.S. in my luggage?

I'm not a drunkard. I'm in Chile and I want to get my family and friends wine.

  3. If you put a few bottles in your checked luggage, you should be fine. That's what I did.  Another option is to ship it to yourself.

The correct answer depends on which state you live in.  The US government has no limit on how much alcohol you may bring back (though they may ask you to pay duty on any amount that exceeds your duty-free limit); however, some states have limits on how much alcohol may be imported without a license.  

    It's probably best to check with your state's liquor control board or revenue agency to see what their laws are.

  5. i think you can take as much as you want aslong as you buy it in duty free. you cant carry it through the departure gates becuase they will take it off you but you can buy it once you get through to the shops xx
