I am 19 and am in my second year of college. At the rate I am going, I probably have about 3 more years till I get my AA. I have been considering as of late about running a day care. How much time, education, and money will this take?

  1. You need to first check with your city or town about licensing. Contact your state or provincial authorities about the requirements necessary - they will have the info. on what you must have in terms of training, CPR, etc. Then you need to investigate with your insurance company extra coverage for liability insurance.

    Good luck!

  2. It takes a lot of time and money. The education requirements for the director are set by your state. Check the licensing board for the list of building, staff, and director requirements.

There's also a good resource on here..

Also, if you're serious about this, make sure your AA is in Childcare Management so that you don't have to add more classes later.

  3. DSHS can help you get your licensing donfe and your house needs to be approved, There may also be a family services place in town that will list youas having opening swhen you have them so be sure to find out about that, I would say to get your house ready licenced and supplies 500.00$
