Don't you need time to get acceleration, and therefore force? (W=fd)

  1. This is not an acceleration problem.

    W = KE = ½mv² = ½*.001*12² = .072 J

  2. W = KE = 1/2 m v^2

    As long as it got up to 12 m/s, it will have the same energy.

    = .072 J
