  1. depends where you are building: through Seattle, 2 billion per mile; in North Dakota, 1.5 million each. So no definitive answer to such a broad question.

  2. I recall hearing in about 1970 that Interstate highways cost an average of about one million dollars per mile.  Compare the cost index or whatever to now, 38 years later, and maybe you'll have some astronomical idea.

  3. With the architechural stability of custom aggregate based upon the future values of subterrainian ground stock, and multiplying by the sum of all things considered, plus current and ficticious forms of inflation, I would think it would work out to:

    no clue

  4. in Massachusetts?  at least 1 billion dollars, due to unnecessary delays, corrupt politicians, police details, overpaid inspectors, engineers and kickbacks to union bosses.

anywhere else?  about 75 million dollars.

  5. $20 million per lane-mile

  6. at least $12.00

ps. thanks to Charles Matthews jr. for this answer, it seems to cover a wide range of subjects and is one I will never forget.
