How much would I be looking at for a power tilt hook-up on my boat?

Got a boat with an outboard 50hourse merc and like to hook up a power tilt. My throttle has a button for it, just need the hardwear.

  1. it depends on the situation. Is the motor good, if it just needs to be wired about 2 hours, if the trim motor has to be replaced that's a whole other story, I have done some in about an hour, if it has been in salt water corroded and you need to drill out bolts or re-tap, it could take a ton of time.


  2. Best to find if it was an option for that model? If so its a lot of work and $> Better to find another engine and sell yours>

  3. If the motor did not come with power trim/tilt, the units are very expensive and it would probably be more cost effective to buy a motor with trim/tilt. If you motor is older you may want to look for a used one with tilt.

    The last time someone I know had to have a trim pump replaced it was about $800 for a new one.
