How much would I pay for going by rail from Thessaloniki to Belgrad and then to Bari ??

Thess. to Beograd is 62 euros.

Beograd to Bari, Italy? 169 eu.

I would try to take the train form Beograd to Bar(Montenegro) which costs 53 euros.  Then if there's no ferry to Bari, Italy from there, take a bus from Bar to Dubrovnik and get the ferry from there.  It would be much more pleasant than up through Zagreb, Villach, past Venice, then down the length of Italy.

The only thing is you don't always find the cities in English.  Like you have to type Beograd for Belgrade.
