I'm 15 turning 16, and I've applied for Coles, Target and Borders. I'm curious as to how much I'll get paid on weekdays.

Also, what are the interviews like? What should I do?

  1. My son worked at Coles - His starting rate was $8.35 and more on Sundays and some holidays. He just turned 17 and left that job 3 months ago - he was getting $15 on Sundays and $11 normal hours.  I assume it would be the same for Kmart, Target, and Office Works etc as they are all under the same company (name).

You generally start on checkouts, then can go into whatever is available - my son went on to work in the Bakery and Produce.  Gives you more hours and of course $$$

You can also get a family discount card if you work there - which of course comes in handy

    :-)

When my son went in for an interview there was 4 people waiting, all interviewed separately of course and was the checkout supervisor and the manager 'interviewing'.  They don't ask you to sit any tests or anything.  Just be yourself and you will cruise through!

They love taking on younger people for part-time, after school and weekend work, so if you show you are keen you will be in!

Dress nice (don't over do it) or go in your school uniform - alot of people do this.

Don't forget your Resume or CV with you.

    Good Luck

  2. go to wageline.com.au

  3. I think it depends on the shop itself but probably between $8 - $12. Ask the coles you are going to work for, for a more exact answer. :]
