Basically, me and one of my friends are gonna move down to london in about 6 months to work. How much would it cost for a deposit on an average flat.

Also where is the best place to live that is close to restaurants or within reasonable driving distance?

  1. 15 million pound

  2. Really depends on where you are looking but a 1 bed flat will be upwards from £600 per month so the first month up front will be upwards of £1200 since you always have to pay a months rent plus a months deposit up front.

This is rock bottom and you might just find a price like this. Expect more like £650.

As for the best place to live, one good thing about London is more or less anywhere is near to restaurants, bars and amenities. Have a look on gumtree.com at some prices, get the names of some areas you can afford and spend a fun day out down here on a travelcard scoping them out

A 2 bed flat will set you back about £800 a month, ie £1600 first month up front. You could always get a one bed, use the lounge as a bedroom and move up from there.

Good luck, hope you find something nice

  3. the deposit is usually the same amount as a months rent. you have to give the deposit and a months rent in advance before you move in.

    Reasonable driving distance to what?

Nice areas are places like Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Forest Hill, Notting Hill, Chiswick, and of course a lot of places in the centre but they are also very expensive.

  4. did  you intend to buy or rent ?  at the moment  for renting it's around a month in advance  and for a buy you will need around 10% of teh  cost of the cost.

it easy to look up an area on gogle etc and check out local reteraunts, cafes etc .

driving in London is a nightmare with very restrictive parking and high traffic density. not recommended at all/ Bus or tube train is best.
