I concur with the ranges given above for a new set of pipes. And ironbrew is spot on with the warning about poor quality bagpipes. Also, used sets may be a good value, but it would be wise to employ the services of an experienced piper to assist you in selecting and evaluating a used set.

At the low end...$700 and $1500 and up at the other.  there are a lot of third world countries that produce pipes for $100-300 and they are suitable for mounting on the wall as a decoration.  Unfortunately, there are several vendors on the Royal Mile that sell them along with a 'made in Scotland tag'. Pure rubbish and so are the pipes.
