It depends on where you go, and what their minimum is. Sometimes just getting a tiny spec of a tattoo will cost upwards of $75 because that's their minimum.

when my husband got his tat we shopped around. We went to about 10 shops and asked for prices and just got a feel for the people. We finally found someone who you could tell knew what he was doing and charged us a reasonabe price. i would def recommend going to a couple shops and tell them what you want and get a vibe for the place.

Well since there is writing involved, I'm guessing that you won't be able to get it as small as you think you could.  But for this type of tattoo, I would guess anywhere from $50-$100 if it is going to be on the smaller side.  But if you walked into my husbands shop right now, he would most likely charge you $80.

But it all depends on where you are, we're in Hollywood,CA and the scratch shops up in the tourist area of Hollywood Blvd. would easily charge you $250.  He's at the Los Feliz end of the Blvd in a custom shop and is able to charge what tattoos are actually worth not over price just to take unfair advantage of tourists.

So please, shop around, ask friends for referrals and things like that.  Google tattoo shops for your area and see if there are any customer comments online that could help you.
