  1. Check here:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i...

    You can find it.

    Good luck!

  2. You are going to need more then one.  They do not do well alone.  They need to be in a flock of 4 or more.  Unless you get a rooster they can live alone and are much nicer if they are away from the flock.

Are you looking for meat chickens or laying hens?  OR just a pet?

They can range from a dozen for $20 to a dozen for $40 depending on then breed.

They need a secure safe hutch to keep them safe from Predators.

    Here are some small coops

    http://www.backyardchickens.com/chickenc...

The feed is really cheap.  It is the cost of the coop that is the most expense.

This site is great we use to get our Chickens from them.  Click on day old baby chickens to get an Idea of prices on the breed you want.

    http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/index.ht...

Also on that page check out Waterers, and the other stuff on the side to get an idea of what you are going to need.

Oh and you can always go to your local Fair and lots of times chickens will be for sale and you can buy adults.

  3. best to buy chicks/hatchlings

    anywhere from £1 - £3 each

ask a breeder/farmer or go to a livestock sale or market

  4. there are lots of places to buy chickens in the UK.  Try www.practicalpoultry.co.uk for breeders local to you.   If you have all these questions though, you need to do some serious research first!

chickens do better in groups, one would be lonely.

Laying hens generally cost about £15 to £20 per chicken.  You can buy day old chicks or younger pullets for less.

You need a chicken house or a fox will come.  Also, chickens can't see in the dark so would be very unhappy outside, apart from the fact that they would freeze.

have a look at www.omlet.co.uk for LOADS of info on chicken keeping

  5. A hatchery you have to buy a dozen or more I believe(It gets expensive too). If you want to buy and have them shipped from a hatchery.

Age will also matter do you want a young chick or a fully grown one?

It also depends what you want them for?... A show bird will be a lot more than a meat or egg bird. A bird is anywhere around $2-$10

You can also look in a farmers classified add you might be able to buy a few if you only want some.

You will need a chicken hutch or coop for shelter from sun and storms. A fence to keep them from wandering away or from getting killed by stray cats, wandering dogs or hawks. You can buy or build a shelter and fence for not a lot of money. The feed you will want to buy will depend on their age (chick crumbles, laying hens, organic w/o grower for pets, or meat grower) You will also want scratch grains and calcium supplements too.
