How much would a newspaper photographer get paid?

Question

How much would a photographer for a major UK newspaper get paid e.g The Times or do newspapers not employ photographers but buy of freelance?

P.S figures of salary would be nice. thanks

yeah..newspapers dont employ photographers..they buy freelance photographs

see it depends if u r  a permanent photographer of that newspaper or on a trial basis.

if u have just started and with no experience they  will buy the pics taken by u nd then accordingly they'll pay u .and mind u they pay very less in the first 6-7 times so u have to impress them nd even if they r they won't express it to but but u also need to bargain a bit ....

and if u get a permanent job or a contract of some time then u will surely have a gud time but according to me u should try in a cheap newspaper if its ur first time so tat when u apply in a big one u have some word experience in ur boi-data.
