  1. A round trip ticket runs around 600 to 800 dollars per person...unless you are lucky and find a great rate. One piece of advice re the ticket - if you know a travel agent, call them. Even if they charge a service fee they have visibility to different ticket class price. Going on line you do not have the same visibility to price differences. I recently saved over 500.00 dollars by going through a travel agent friend of mine.

Re hotels - check out Tripadvisor.com. Hotels in a variety of price ranges are listed. You also know if it is a 2, 3 or 4 star hotel and the site has reviews posted by recent travelers giving you a good feel for service, cleanliness, etc.

I was in Italy this past October and can tell you the average price is around $200.00 - $250.00 per night. In Rome I stayed at Hotel Condotti - great location. Note they have the main hotel and a small annex around the corner...the rooms are very nice but a bit small and there is a great breakfast (part of the nightly fee) in the main hotel.

In Florence I stayed at the Residence Michelangiolo - AMAZING!!! The hotel is 2 blocks from the Arno river and a 15 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio. The hotel does not have meal service but several rooms have kitchenettes which are stocked with coffee, milk, breakfast items, cork s***w, plates, etc...and HUGE rooms with a view of the park like property. Great restaurants are just a couple of blocks away. The train station is a 10 minute cab ride away - from there you can do day trips to Pisa, Sienna, Lucca and small towns in the Chianti region. Angela, the hostess, is great..she will search the web for you, call a cab, suggest trips....great asset!

I know I am going on and on about the hotel in Florence but it really was that good.

As to the Riviera - where exactly? Portofino? Santa Margherita? San Remo? in the north riviera or the Amalfi coast south of Naples...either is great but need to know more...but Tripadvisor.com should help with this too.

Late spring is a great time to go - good weather, although you may get some rain, but the crowds will be moderate.

Congratulation on your upcoming wedding...All the best to you...and enjoy beautiful Italia!

  2. I am a travel agent specializing in Italy.  I would be happy to assist you with your honeymoon.  In order to estimate a realistic price for you, I would need to know a bit more, such as where in south Florida, exactly what dates, as well as discuss what type of accommodations you prefer and if you desire tours or to be fully independent, etc.  Feel free to e-mail me and I will respond quickly.

  3. Go to http://www.love.allabouthoneymoons.com they can plan any type of trip not just honeymoons and destination weddings. If you tell them what you like and your budget they will plan the perfect trip for you.Best of all if you use there service to book your trip there service is free b/c the fee is paid by the hotel or resort.

  4. It really depends on the hotels you are staying at, excursions you will take, your food tastes and how much shopping you will be doing.

So, I will estimate an average. (conservative)

    Air 1400.00 (700 each)

    Hotel 9 nights  1800.00 (200 night)

    Food at least 1,500.00 (150 a day)

Transportation and sightseeing  1,000 (100 day)

I'm up to 5,700 dollars already. Shopping??? You get the idea. It's your honeymoon, not sure if your going Ist class or budget.

The dollar is 77 cents to the euro or there about. I may have estimated the hotels to low.

If it was my honeymoon and I was going to Italy for 10 days, I would be prepared to spend at least 8 K and higher.

Tip: use the ATM machine. you get much better exchange rate. Most credit cards charge a foreign exchange rate (3%)Call your credit card company for info.

Good Luck and enjoy your time in Italy. It's a beautiful country and the people are wonderful.
