  1. I am going to Japan in October. I bought my ticket 6 months in advance in April and it was $1200

  2. Not true. Prices will vary will time of year and day of week you want to leave. "Way cheaper"?? No.

  3. It depends on when you are traveling. Different times of the year cost different amounts.

As a rule most airlines charge less for tickets bought in advance, because they are using your money before you travel.

Check some discount web sites for the costs from your city.

  4. I don't think it is true.

I'm using air flight frequently but I've never found about these difference.

Three month advance and a month advance may make small difference but not huge.

But a month and a week may make difference (A week advance is sometime expensive depend on how much seat remaining.  And you can't buy non-refundable ticket which is creeper price).

And there might a difference which comes form oil price.

The fuel portion of your air ticket will be payed by the oil price at the time when you purchase the ticket.  So, If you buy a ticket three month in advance then the oil price goes down after that, the price of thicket goes down compare with the price when you purchased.

Basically the fight ticket price will be changed by demand and supply balance and oil price.  But I never see big difference between three month and a month.

If you need cheaper ticket to go Japan.

Sometime Japanese travel agency has good deal than others.
