This is not a religion question.

Leviticus 15 says that when a women menstruates, she shall be "unclean", and have a period [no pun intended] of separation until 7 days after it ends. I was wondering if this would have led to increased or decreased birth rates. First, is the 7th day after menstruation ends usual a fertile day or an infertile day? Second, assuming that her male partner does not have other female partners, is seven days plus the number of days for which menstruation lasts a sufficient period of abstinence to increase his sperm count?

  1. Well, it all depends.  Just as having intercourse too often doesn't give the male's reproductive system time to replenish sperm, waiting too long between can lower the quality of his sperm.  Every other day from about cycle day 8 (8 days after the START of her period) to cycle day 17 should cover you.

Assuming that her menstruation lasts, let's say, 5 days, add your 7 days to that and she's on cycle day 12. That may well be past her ovulation and too late. Every woman is different. I have ovulated on cycle day 10 before. So yes, it may very well decrease your chances, depending on the woman's cycle.

  2. Exactly as above - what the h**l are you on about!!!!!! Unclean? Seperation because of a woman being on her period? and your saying its not a religious question - it obviously is. Frecking donut

  3. I assume your religious beliefs are affecting your birth control.

I respect that but you're playing with fire.

What you have said  does not affect pregnancy time or sperm count.

See your doctor for birth control you can count on and /or help in getting pregnant.

    Good luck.
