Before you being to think of time and money, please get it into your mind that this is a HUMAN BEING you are talking about.

  2. The cost? = two broken hearts, two joyful hearts. three people forever wondering....How can you put a dollar sign on that?

  3. It doesn't cost nothing.Where did you get that idea.

The only thing that costs you is a lot of time. You can't get a child within a day.You need to wait at least 2,3 weeks or more.Somebody will come to you're home and see if it is safe to adopt a child.

  4. Oh yeah.  Just walk into the baby store, hand over the cash and 'get' your child within the same day

Are we talking human being here or car showroom

  5. The cost of adoption depends on the type of agency you went through.  It can be up to $20,000.00 or more.  And getting a child within the day is impossible.  You have to be interviewed and your home has to approved.  Depending on the state you will have to do a background check and even fingerprints, which takes at least a month.  There are so many children and lots of people wanting to adopt, but not enough workers to help get everything together.  It will be a very emotional process and very time consuming.  But it is worth it in the end.  Good luck.

  6. it takes months and sometimes years to adopt and it doesnt cost anything, they have much background work to do  financial and personal

cost is only when you adopt from overseas,

  7. This is a strange Question

No you can not just *get a child* within a day !

There is home visits and all sorts of hoops you must go through to prove you are fit to take anothers child to raise as yours

  8. There are different avenues to adoption (ex: foster, domestic, international).  All have different benefits and drawbacks.  There is extreme variation in the cost of the adoption process, depending on the route chosen.  If someone chooses to adopt special needs children, there also may be subsidies to assist with the cost of the process.  There is no way to say "Adoption costs $X."  because there are way too many variables involved.  Foster adoption is generally the least expensive.  At the other end of the spectrum are some international adoption programs (not all)  and domestic infant adoption.  That's just a basic guideline; you would have to research specifics.

Every adoption route takes time.  It's certainly not an immediate turnaround!  Expect months or years, depending on the situation.

    Good luck.

  9. Its the fee's that "cost" the homestudy, lawyors, getting the paperwork and having it translated if sent to another country etc. Things cost anywhere from 10-50k. The cheapest way is through the foster care system. With in the day? That is not realistic... it will take 6 months to any number of years.

  10. It took us about 8 months to complete the paperwork and homestudy, and we've been waiting over a year and a half to have a child or sibling group placed with us.  Once the child is placed, we will have monthly visits from a social worker for 12 months, and then the adoption will be legally finalized.  We also spent 2 1/2 years before starting the adoption process doing research and talking about it.  All told, we will probably spend about 5 years on the adoption process, beginning to end, IF we adopt a sibling group.  Probably 7 years if we adopt one child and then another.  If you adopt through foster care, it's free in most states.
