You need to figure this out for yourself, with your own power bill.

I live in the land of hydro electric power.  My power company is charging 6.5 CENTS per killowatt hour.  I understand in New York it's as high as 25 CENTS per killowatt hour.  

With the extreme difference in price people are charged for their electric, there's no way for someone on Yahoo Q&A to be able to answer you.

However if you call your own power company up with the information from the AC unit they can probably help you figure it out.

depends on the total BTU value of the A/C unit and how many hours per month it ran.

on the name plate info such as voltage/amps per hour /kw is given other wise when shopping for an A/C unit the store should be able to supply that info.  How you operate the unit is important, EX: leave at a comfortable setting and leave it there don't turn up or down constantly or turn off when your gone and restart when you come home,all that uses more energy than if left at a comfortable setting.  Also some units mainly older ones don't have a cycle switch,this means they will continue to cool until the thermostat is setting is reached but the motor will keep running even when not cooling, newer models have a cycle or continuous run switch which can be set to either position by the user,needless to say continuous run will cost more and cause other problems; such as icing. It all depends on your usage the info tags are a guide line as to what to expect and not actual cost to the user. Go Green save energy.
