  1. Paris is not a cheap place to visit.  While the Euro is strong against the U.S. dollar, things in France just cost more.   A cup of coffee at a local cafe will run you about $5-7 U.S. dollars.   A small cup at that.   If you are someone who eats a small breakfast, a light lunch and a modest dinner you are looking at $100 per day even at moderately priced restaurants.   When I went I stayed at an efficiency hotel which had a little kitchen.  As such, I was able to limit my restaurant eating and prepared some things myself.   Supermarkets are more like our Convenience Stores so the assortment is limited and things are about 50% more expensive even before you figure that our dollar is worth less.   If you stay away from the tourist areas you can buy sandwiches and snacks from street vendors and little shops.   They are more economically priced.   Having said all of this, to experience Paris is something you will never forget, so regardless of cost , it's a trip you will always cherish.   It's a wonderful city full of history and culture.
