I live in Chicago and gas is about $4.25....I figure the entire trip (including driving while down there) would be 3000 miles.

I get about 24 miles/gallon...

  1. The gas will actually get cheaper once you get south of Chicago.....but when you get around Florida it will go back up....so I would say average high around $4 gal.

    Divide your 3000 miles by 24 mpg and you get = 125 gallons needed...so $4 X 125= $500

  2. If gas is $4.25/gal and you get 24 mpg, then it costs you 4.25/24 = 0.17 $/mi.

    3000 x 0.17 = $510.  Whew!

  3. Gas is $4.25 in Chicago!!! omg, just take a plane it's probably cheaper.

  4. 3000 miles divided by 24 mpg means 125 gallons to be used.   Gas continues to go up,  so multiply by $5 gets $600 needed.    Extra may come in handy.
