I'm thinking about getting a small animal like a hampster or something. All i need to know really is how much they cost total including the cage. Also, any tips or help page on how to raise it correctly would be great. Thanks!

  1. Look here for lots of care tips: http://www.rabbit.org/.  The rabbit and the initial setup will be relatively minor expenses compared to ongoing care and vet bills.  A rabbit will cost between $20-$100, usually.  A cage that is properly sized for a rabbit will run you between about $100 (if you build it yourself and have all the tools and buy only the materials) and $400 (for a properly sized commercially made cage).  98% of pet store cages are WAY too small for even one very small rabbit.  As for feeding and upkeep, take what you would spend on a dog in terms of food, vet care, etc and double it.  That's about what it costs to keep a rabbit properly and provide it with vet care so it can live a long and happy life (10 years +, up to 20 years).

  2. well when we got our rabbit, it was $20 for the rabbit, $80-100 for the cage, plus bedding, toys, litter box, food and water dishes, etc. Plus food for however long it lives....

  3. to adopt an already spayed/neutered rabbit is betw/ 50-100 dollars.

to buy at a petstore or breeder AND spay/neuter yourself is anywhere from 200-400 dollars.

i use an xpen for my bunnies.  75 dollars each.  commercial cages are too small.  do not use them, they are a waste of money.

initial supplies (dishes, bottle, litterboxes, etc.) about 40-50 dollars.

the real cost comes in the monthly upkeep and vet care.  for two rabbits i spend 150 dollars a month on litter (40lb bag per month), pellets, hay, 80 dollars worth of fresh vegetables, and nail trims at the vet for both.

i am considering pet insurance, which would be an extra 250 a year for both.

  4. well

my rabit cost 20 from a adoption center. (sprayed)

and i made the hutch, so it didn't cost very mcuh

uh the toys/food/bedding cost like 30 alltogether or around 20-40

but then you have to get it again, when it runs out

i use newpaper for my bedding, it isn't very absorbent and it smells... but... yeah

  5. Well for a rabbit from a breeder or at a fair it will be any where from 10 - 35 dollars. Depending on the size of the rabbit and if you get a cage from someone who makes them they will be anywhere from 35- 80 dollars. Food in 50 lbs bags at a feedmill is 15 dollars, pine bedding is 10 dollars for a big bas from a feedmill. Chew sticks are 6 dollars a pack , toys are generally 3 - 5 dollarsm, treats are about 4.50, Timothy hay in a small bag is 3.49 and i na big bag 7.50. Alfalfa is 7.50. Now a rabbit from a pet store is generally 35 dollars and up to 150 dollars. Cages from a store are 100 dollars and up. Rabbits do not need  to be spayed or neuterd , and  they don't require trpis to the vet for check ups or shots . The only time you need to take them is if you notice something unusual. Food bowls are generally 4 dollars , and large water bottles are 4.50.  Rabbits sometimes smell but only if you don't take care of them properly.

  6. Well when I got my bunny its price was 35$ and the cage litterbox, food, hay,hay rack, bowls, and toy costed 140.00

  7. rabbits are around £10-20 then cages can cost loads unless you get a second hand 1 £100 http://www.rabbit.org/ (england)
