  1. I just stayed for 10 days in Berlin. I didn't pay for a hotel either, just the round trip airfare and going out, souvenirs etc.. I spent about 1600.00, so yes I think 2000.00 would be adequate. Have fun!

  2. Hello,

if you come to Germany, you should also visit the city of Nuremburg with its famous castle, the house of Albrecht Dürer and see the museums here!

    Have a nice trip.

  3. Well, I don't know about flight prices for round trips (your best bet there would be one of the many "bestflightprice" sites, or your local travel agency), but here are a few prices to give you an idea:

    Food:

    - bun with cheese or salami: ranging from 2€-3,50€

    - ice cream: ranging from 0,80-1,50€per ball at the italian ice shop, for cups you have to pay between 3,50€ and 15€. Cups include several ice cream balls and plenty of fruit and whipped cream.

    - French Fries: Anywhere ranging from 1,50 € to 3€. Mostly around 2 € per serving.

    - Sausages: Depending on the variation, a Bratwurst will cost you between 1,50-3€, and a "Currywurst" around 2,50-3,50€.

    - In Restaurants, you can get a fill between 8€ (McD), 25€ if you go to an Italian/Chinese/"gutbürgerliches" restaurant and starting from 40€ in a better restaurant, not including drinks.

Tips are around 10%, but you only tip if you are happy about the service.

    - drinks: For non-alcoholic beverages in a restaurant, calculate around 2,50€ for a small glass of soda and roughly the same for beer.

If you buy drinks in cans in a supermarket, please be aware that there's a return-deposit of 25 cents for cans and 15 cents for bottles that are reused.

    Souveniers:

Postcards start around 0,75€, and the XXL-foldouts cards start at 1,50€. Add to it postage of 1€ for sending it outside of Europe. Sending letters starts at 1,70€.

There are photo-books available, too. Those will start from 10€ to 70 or 80 €.

Others souveniers will range from a few Euros to several dozens, to a few hundreds. It would depend on what you plan to buy.

Entry fees: If you plan to visit exhibitions or parks, cathedrals or Neuschwanstein, there's a more or less heavy admission fee you'll have to pay. I'd suggest you check out the places you plan on visiting on the internet, most have websites and admission prices available.

Travelling from one place to another: Unless you plan on staying at one town, you need transportation, too.

Roughly guessed, if you are a spender, you have to calculate for around 80-100€ per day.

  4. Yes even though its about 1 dollar =.70 euros yes you can make it in Germany for $2000. Some of the big cities are expensive. Go to Frankfurt, Interlocken,Switzerland, Prague.

  5. You can figure out your round trip costs by going to major travel sites like Travelocity and Expedia.  Get your best "flight-only" deal there.  If  you're not staying in a hotel, those sources will give you the best price available.

For meals, playing, and shopping, expect Europe to be VERY expensive.  Even at the best exchange rates, the Euro is expensive to buy, and the prices may look like Dollars, but have to be paid in much-more-valuable Euros.

Figure that what you would spend for meals, shopping, and incidentals will be at least 25% more in Euros then what you woud spend in the U.S. in Dollars.
