  1. I asked something similar on here the other day.  You have to find out certain things first.

    1)  How many miles from SC to FL.  You can find the exact calculation if you search it online.  Just type in "mileage from Columbia, SC to Orlando, FL"... you'll come up with something.

    2)  Find out how many miles to the gallon your particular car gets.  You can look it up on the car's official website (Honda, Ford, whatever it is...), they may even have a toll-free number you can call to ask, if it's an older model.  Wikipedia may even say.  Be sure you look up the year of the car, too.  There would be a difference between a 2008 car and a 1995 car.

    3)  Find out how many gallons are in your particular car.

    4)  Find out the average price of gas across the country, going that direction.  Find out gas prices in a few cities along your route, including Orlando, your final destination.  Type it in search on the internet, you're bound to come up with something.  And then do your calculations based on the highest price you find.  It's best to hi-ball it to ensure you have more than enough money for gas.

It takes a bit of math, but it's worth it to know how much you'll be spending.  Good luck!

  2. Fuel economy varies wildly. A late 70's Lincoln Town Car with a 460CI engine at less than peak may only return six or seven MPG on the open highway. A freshly rebuilt mid 80's Chevy Sprint 5-speed may return figures in the low fifies if one stays under sevent and avoids all stop-and-go situations. Next time, please post your car or truck so we have a better idea...

  3. It depends on how good your vehicle is on gas.  The trip is 434 miles according to Google Maps.  I'm assuming $3.80/gallon which is about the average price in the U.S.  If your vehicle gets:

    15 mpg - $101.33

    20 mpg - $76

    25 mpg - $60.80

    30 mpg - $50.67

    35 mpg - $43.43

    40 mpg - $38

Of course those numbers aren't exact because that assumes a certain number of miles, a certain price for gas, and a certain fuel economy but it should give you a general idea.
